Differences between reinforced pool liners

Differences between reinforced pool liners. Not all are the same!

When a product is good there are always copycat businesses coming up. The inevitable happens, but there is no such thing as a free lunch.

That a product looks like another one and that it sells at a lower price doesn’t mean that the quality is the same as the original one. There are indeed differences between reinforced pool liners. RENOLIT always has to deal with copycat businesses, but you shouldn’t let yourself be fooled. All products that take advantage of this successful situation do not have either the technical features characteristic of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN or its quality standards.

That means that once the “mirror” has been installed, it will deteriorate after a while, it will lose its colour and texture and will have to be replaced shortly after. That is without mentioning how annoyed the poor pool owner will be after realising the cheat.

How to detect it?

There are different ways of knowing whether the pool lining that is being installed is RENOLIT ALKORPLAN or not.

  • You get what you pay for. Price normally indicates whether the lining that’s being installed in your pool is good or not. As already pointed out here, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

  • Comparisons are odious. In both our blog and in the shops of our authorised pool builders there are catalogues, pictures and sample books of our real product so that you can touch it. It is good to compare what the installer is offering you with pictures of our product in order to make sure that the reinforced liner we are being offered is the original one.

  • Online presence. In our social media we provide comprehensive information on our product with pictures of pool projects from companies and customers, testimonial videos, tutorials and pieces of advice on RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced membrane. Our online presence and transparency makes the difference in comparison with our competitors.

  • The back. Either if you are an installer or an end customer, when you receive our product please make sure that RENOLIT ALKORPLAN is printed on the back. This guarantees that it is indeed the original product with all its benefits.

The green lagoon of Portomaso residential complex

The green lagoon of Portomaso residential complex

Portomaso is an exclusive beachfront residential area which covers 128,000 sqm, surrounded by a marina for yachts with 110 berths. A magnificent 1.6 km stretch of sea face.

Located in St. Julians on Malta, the project owners expected it to be one of the most renowned residencies in the Mediterranean… and indeed they made it! They have turned it into a first class project with high quality standards regarding real state in Malta. The green lagoon located in the middle of the complex is the perfect eye-catcher.

The project includes the 5 star hotel Hilton Malta, a beach club, a health and leisure centre, an office building, a conference centre and several shops and restaurants. The star of the group of buildings is the central green lagoon, where ground floor residents have direct access to. This huge 6,000 m2 swimming pool has been lined with our reinforced membrane RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH RELAX green.

This reinforced pool liner was exclusively designed for this specific project. The owner of the building was looking for a green version of ALKORPLAN TOUCH. He didn’t want to give up the characteristics of a 3D print inspired by nature, but in a green version.

Both construction and installation were carried out by DOLPHIN POOLS, our distributor in Malta. It took almost two years from the start of the negotiations until the final definition of the project, including how our special TOUCH RELAX should look like for this luxury residential project.

Likewise, a specific liquid PVC had to be developed in order to seal the seams in the same color of the reinforced membrane. The ALKORPLAN TOUCH pool liner was installed in stages and took approximately one month.

Are you working on a big pool project and you would like to give it a personal touch? First of all, please check out our product range. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, let’s talk it over!

Beach entry pools

Beach entry pools

Discover a new concept for your swimming experience: recreate the beach in your pool.

The world of swimming pools is changing and leading us to new pool concepts such as beach entry pools. Also known as zero entry pools, instead of having steps there’s a slope that gradually enters into the water.

The main purpose is that the swimming pool looks like a natural beach. Some even add other elements like pebbles or real sand around the pool in order to increase this beach feeling. Decorating the garden with stones and leafy plants will make the whole landscape look like a real paradise. The idea is to recreate a natural space in a garden generating a great visual impact.

If you’re considering this kind of pool, please take into account that you’ll need a large area to build it on. Beach entry pools require much more space than a traditional pool because of the gradual slope. So, size matters in this case.

What are the advantages of a beach entry pool?

The main advantage of a beach entry pool is the accessibility. Children, elderly and people with disabilities find it easier to enter this kind of swimming pools. No more ladder or stairs!

Apart from this, the slope itself is a perfect spot to lay down and sunbathe. Shallower water gets warm faster.

Which pool liner most closely resembles sand?

The ideal choice for a zero entry pool is RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH, specifically two designs:

  • Relax: its similarity to fine, beach sand makes it ideal for exotic atmospheres that will take you faraway. Dive into Caribbean-like crystal-clear waters with turquoise hues thanks to its soft, pleasant feel on your skin.
  • Sublime: with its rough, rocky surface it emulates fine travertine marble, its light tones also give the impression of a beach atmosphere. The perfect lining for trendy, modern pools.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH is the first 3D reinforced liner with a 2 mm thickness, which makes it the most resistant liner in the market. The TOUCH range is available in 6 different colours that simulate natural elements in both colour and texture.

Both ALKORPLAN TOUCH Relax and Sublime are perfect to line a zero entry pool because of the color they confer to water, making it look like a seaside landscape. Apart from this, they have a non-slip finish, which is particularly appropriate for this kind of pool access. Any other pool liner wouldn’t guarantee the slip resistance. On the contrary, RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH are non-slip pool liners. This way you don’t have to worry about the safety at your pool.

Have you ever thought about building a beach entry pool in your backyard? The ideal solution fort he whole family which is both functional and ornamental all year long! So, what do you prefer: pool or beach? Or both?

The view from an infinity pool

The view from an infinity pool

The view from an infinity pool

The possibilities are endless when we think about building a pool: the shape, the stairs, the colour of the pool liner, the pool deck material, the decoration in the surrounding area, the pool lighting…

In the case of this infinity pool everything was perfectly adjusted. Apart from enjoying a breathtaking view thanks to its excellent location, the pool owner has made the right choice and the result is gorgeous.

  • Rustic natural stone was chosen for the pool deck. Stone has several advantages. First of all, it does not become slippery when wet. Safety is one of the main elements to take into consideration when planning a swimming pool. Secondly, stone is easy to clean and maintain.
  • Concerning the pool lining, the choice was naturally RENOLIT ALKORPLAN: TOUCH Elegance in this specific case. RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH is a 2 mm thick reinforced pool lining, which remains flexible during its installation. Thus, it can adapt to any shape and to any pool basin surface. TOUCH Elegance looks like slate and gives water a deep blue tone.
  • The access to the pool is unique: the stairs are a combination of wavy and straight lines, what confers a dynamic and aesthetic effect. This staircase is the good adaptability of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN to irregular shapes. It can be installed on any shape.
  • The edge of this swimming pool is elevated, so that you can have a sit without getting out of the water.
  • Last but not least, let’s say a few words about the shape of this infinity pool. When you submerge into its water, you get an endless view of the beautiful landscape around it. Even if the basin has a standard rectangular shape, the front edge aligns the valley, where gaze, nature and blue skies fuse together.

Infinity pool, infinity edge pool or vanishing edge pool: call it whatever you like. This kind of swimming pool looks fabulous. How would an infinity pool look like in your garden? 🙂
