No more pool water leaks with RENOLIT ALKORPLAN

Let’s talk about one of the most common worries for all pool owners: LEAKS!
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN guarantees complete impermeability of its reinforced membranes for 10 years, in writing. Did you know that, every year, many owners of pools built with finishing techniques other than our reinforced membranes contact us or our certified installers to definitively solve the impermeability problems of their pools? Pool infiltrations appear when the impermeability is not guaranteed.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN is the guaranteed waterproofing for pools

The RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced membrane (membrane 150/100) is the perfect solution for renovating all kinds of pools. The reform of a pool with the reinforced membrane also enables the existing structure to be reused to the maximum without having to make radical changes and allowing great savings. Pool leaks entail an economic cost, a correlative environmental impact in the water consumption and, above all, not solving the causes of the infiltration problems in a pool can cause serious deterioration of the structure and the underlying parts.

Cause of infiltrations in pools:
The origin of leaks in a pool can be discovered in the following way:
– If they are in the hydraulic installation it is very easy to detect them by simply building up the pressure in the installation.
– If they are in the shell, they are much more difficult to identify. To discover a leak, a test must be done putting the installation under pressure.

Construction Systems
The construction systems are different, each one with its own peculiarities and specific guarantees; it is necessary to assess not only what the builder offers, but also the characteristics of the product itself.
Below is a summary of the most used structures on the market.

  • Reinforced concrete pool
This is completely made from reinforced concrete; the bottom and walls are concrete. It guarantees great solidity, but it must be made extremely carefully, its perfection depends a lot of the builder’s experience. The reinforced concrete structure allows any shape to be made and takes all kinds of finishes. The time and costs are generally high compared to other systems. The builder gives the guarantee.
  • Pools with metal panels
This type of pool is made preparing the bottom and the panels are mounted around its perimeter, which can be from different types of metal. Assembly is quick and easy and creates an ideal structure for using the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN liner immediately. Panels can be transported and assembled easily and are supported by pressure-moulded metal buttresses that give the structure resistance to the hydrostatic pressure of the water and the surrounding land. The panels have an optimum price-quality ratio which can vary depending on the metal used: galvanised sheet, aluminium and stainless steel alloy (the last being very resistant to corrosion). Guarantees for the panels vary between 10 and 30 years.
  •  Pool with polystyrene enclosures
This structure is also defined as disposable.
This is made with hollow blocks of high-density polystyrene that, supported on the concrete base form the perimeter wall of the shell. Of fast execution, after installing them they are reinforced with steel bars and, next, are filled with concrete and so the pool will look like that of reinforced concrete. Expanded polystyrene (EPS), being insulating, maintains the temperature of the water for a long time. The internal walls are levelled out or protected with a smooth mat enabling the application of the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN liner. Panel guarantees (being a product that will get damaged over time) must be checked with the supplier.

The range of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced PVC guarantees impermeability and can give your pool a second life, offering different colours, designs and textures that spruce up the pool. Get rid of your fear of infiltrations and begin again with complete lasting certainty like day one!

Types of Pool Decks

One of the key factors when building a swimming pool is correctly choosing the inner lining for the basin and the surface for the pool deck.

Special attention has to be paid to this latter area as it is frequently used as a space for sunbathing or relaxing and is a transit zone for bathers coming to and from the pool, so it is important that the material you choose be comfortable for walking on barefoot.

It must also be a material that is able to respond efficiently to our needs and expectations. It has to be functional, hygienic, easy to clean and —most importantly— anti-slip.

There are all recommendable but we should choose materials that adapt to the style we want to give our pool area, its shape and even to how it is going to be used.

There are a variety of types in diverse materials with different characteristics and aesthetics although those used most frequently are tiles, natural or artificial stone, wood or lawn.

They are highly recommendable as they are low-maintenance, easy to clean and resistant to all kinds of temperature. They bring elegance, resistance, durability and comfort to the poolside area. There are a variety of types including flat or smooth, uneven or enamel tiles, which are the best known kind. They also allow you imitate materials such as wood, stone and so on. Tiles lend a natural, safe and comfortable look to the poolside area.

It is essential that the wood be anti-slip and resistant to water, damp and sunlight. There are different types: tropical timber, natural wood and eco-friendly or synthetic wood and it usually comes in decking or panels.

Concrete is another option used very frequently for exteriors due to its versatility. It can imitate any kind of stone, paving or cobble in different shapes and colours. It allows for numerous decorative options and requires minimal maintenance.

In the end, whichever you choose, remember that what is most important for a good pool deck is for it to be hardwearing, comfortable for bathers, easy to maintain and clean, and —most importantly— anti-slip to prevent accidents.
