New design TOUCH Origin

New design TOUCH Origin

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH, the range of reinforced pool membranes inspired in nature, the most resistant and long-lasting on the market thanks to their 2 mm thickness, officially presents the design that will set trends this summer: Origin.

Origin is the on site pool liner inspired in one of the most elegant and imperishable stones we can find on our beloved Planet Earth, in rivers, mountains, forests … granite.

Granite, a timeless and indestructible rock, which humanity has used on countless occasions to construct its most emblematic buildings and outstanding monuments, for its nobility and elegance.

Like the rest of the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH range, Origin is a totally innovative and original design that has all the characteristics of quality, beauty, watertightness and resistance offered by the rest of the TOUCH range.

TOUCH Origin, with its visual appearance and spectacular touch, has a granitic texture that everyone knows, and thanks to its combination of black and grey spots on a white background it gives the water a brilliant metallic blue colour with sparkling grey highlights.

Characteristics and installation

In regard to its installation, we want to point out that Origin is an ideal design for membrane installers who have little or no experience, because thanks to its granite pattern any irregularities in the basin are attenuated and its joints are quite discreet.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH Origin has extraordinary flexibility to adapt to any shape of the basin, making installation quick and simple. It has a “C” grade slipperiness certificate, and like all RENOLIT ALKORPLAN pool liners it offers a written 10-year watertightness guarantee.

It is suitable for installing with overlap welds, like the rest of the TOUCH range, although for an impeccable finish, on the floor we recommend the butt welding technique because, in addition, Origin is perfect for concealing joints and dissimulating any imperfection in the pool.

Safety at your swimming pool

Safety at your swimming pool

Every summer, there are pool accidents that could have been avoided if some basic safety measures had been taken into account. Special attention should be paid to children and pets as they are the ones at most risk of having an accident.

Pool safety is a key factor that both the builder and the owner should take into account before, during and after it is built. It is important to remember that pools are not only dangerous while you are swimming, there are also areas around them where accidents can happen at any time.Following maximum safety measures may prevent an area for rest and relaxation such as a swimming pool from becoming the focus of attention due to an accident.

When we talk about pool safety, the first thing that comes to mind is protecting children. To do so, we have to remember that, even if safety systems are fitted at the pool, adults are always responsible for supervising children at all times and especially for paying particular attention while children are swimming.

There are several ways to avoid accidents both inside the basin and in the surrounding areas. People can slip on the paving around the pool and the steps so you should choose special anti-slip materials for these areas that let water drain well. It is important to ask any RENOLIT ALKORPLAN certified fitter for advice before building your pool. They will give you recommendations and help you choose the best safety systems to apply for your pool.

The different safety measures include several devices:

Barriers
If we do not wish to change the shape of our pool and we have enough room in our garden, we may choose to build a fence or barrier around the pool with a gate fitted into it. We must make sure that the gate is kept fully closed at all times and can only be opened using a system that children are not able to operate. This ensures that there is always an adult present when the pool is being used.

Pool covers
Whether manual or automatic, we should make sure that the system for opening and closing the cover can only be operated by an adult.  We must also make sure that the cover covers the pool 100% and does not leave any way in at the edges. It is important to check the durability of the cover as it must be able to support the weight of children and pets and not give way or rip if they climb onto it.

swimming pool anti slipAlarm systems
Resorting to new technologies, we can choose to fi an immersion detector within the structure of our pool that emits a sound when something or someone crosses a pre-set boundary or even falls into the water. These sensors will warn us if a body enters the water, activating a visual and acoustic alarm to warn us. A useful system as long as we are at home. As an additional security measure, this system can also warn us if anyone is swimming in our pool uninvited.

Raised pool
A raised pool requires fitting a coping that is high enough for children not to be able to get into the pool. The only way into the pool are steps that can be removed when we do not want to use it. The pool loses part of its aesthetic appeal but this is one of the safest systems for preventing children and pets from falling in without us knowing about it.

Anti-slip
Any RENOLIT ALKORPLAN certified fitter knows where to fit anti-slip lining to prevent falls and bumps in and around your pool. A place where it is essential to have RENOLIT ALKORPLAN anti-slip lining is at the entrance to the pool. The pool steps are a fall risk that can be prevented by appropriately positioned anti-slip lining.

If your pool does not have stone coping around it, we recommend using anti-slip lining.
Fitting RENOLIT ALKORPLAN anti-slip lining is a fundamental investment if we stop to think that any fall in or around our pool could leave us floating unconscious in water.

Here are several tips for preventing accidents and providing the utmost pool safety so you can simply enjoy your pool:

  • Try and ensure that the whole pool can be seen from inside the house so that you oversee it at all times.
  • Direct surveillance by an adult is the best action for preventing accidents combined with education on the correct use of the facility.
  • Learn to swim. The sooner the better. That is the most important and practical advice. You should know how to educate, encourage and motivate children to learn to swim as soon as possible.
  • Have rescue equipment beside the pool, such as a life jackets, a pole, a first-aid kit and a telephone nearby.
  • Make getting in and out of the pool easy with easily-visible steps with an anti-slip surface.
  • When the pool is not in use, we recommend taking all toys and objects out of it so they do not attract children.
  • Keep all kinds of electrical devices far away from the pool and also store chemical products and equipment for pool maintenance and cleaning very carefully.
  • Pave the surrounding area with special anti-slip material, avoiding sharp corners and creating rounded edges instead.
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS simulates ceramic pieces

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS simulates ceramic pieces

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS is the first reinforced membrane with 3D relief simulating ceramic pieces
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS also is the new reinforced membrane to reline swimming pools that replicates the volumes of real vitreous pieces, with their joints, achieving the look of a mosaic inspired by Greek mythology.
Like all the reinforced membranes in the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN range, it is 100% watertight and backed up with a written 10-year water-tightness Guarantee.
CERAMICS is 2mm thick with a textured relief design with an incredible 3D effect, capable of simulating the look and feel of the famous square ceramic pieces so popular in swimming pools. In addition to its excellent design, suitable both for new build swimming pools and refurbishments, its technical qualities allow the reinforced membrane to be elastic and flexible so that it can adapt to any shapes and corners of any swimming pool.

It comes in three models inspired by the Goddesses of Greek mythology:
Selene
Silver-winged Goddess of the moon. She captured the hearts of the classical poets and now dazzles in the swimming pools she graces. Selene, with a white lunar finish she will captivate all who contemplate her clear celestial waters, like the colour of the sky on a summer’s day.

Etna
A nymph who gave her name to the volcano that forged the lightning of Zeus, God of Gods. This lining is sober and elegant, making swimming pools elegant and regal, suitable for a God.

Athenea
Goddess of reason and protector of Athens, a city bathed by the Mediterranean and the inspiration of this membrane; an intense blue, so warm, so deep and so ours. Athena gives the waters it contains an unmatchable shine and hue.

The special thickness of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS membranes directly gives them the level “C” slipperiness certificate, so when installing them is not necessary to use anti-slip reinforced membrane in bathers’ walking areas.
With RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS the days of losing ceramic pieces and having to reset them are over, as well as guaranteeing the complete water-tightness of the membrane since the pieces do not fall off.
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS simulates the tiles of the classical Greek aesthetic, making the most of all the advantages that the reinforced membrane offers, the lining with the most advantages on the market:

  • Guaranteed water-tightness. The reinforced membrane provides absolute water-tightness and comes in a wide range of colours, designs and textures to meet all tastes.
  • Its installation is quick, requiring half the time of other materials, and can be done on any kind of structural material.
  • Swimming pools lined with reinforced membrane require minimal maintenance, since their upper face is covered with an exclusive protective lacquer with the principal aim is prolonging the life of the lining as well as repelling dirt, avoiding stains and protecting from UV rays.
  • Its installation is easy using hot air soldering (thermo-fusion) and a roller.
In membranes that are thicker than usual, such as RENOLIT ALKORPLAN CERAMICS or RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH, using butt-welding with geotextile is recommended to avoid ugly ridges that can occur with overlap soldering. For this, using a tin roller in the trickier corners of the pool is recommended to ensure an impeccable finish.

CERAMICS supplements the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN range, which has become the ideal lining to for pools all around the world.

¿Why RENOLIT ALKORPLAN?
RENOLIT ALKORPLAN is a reinforced membrane and watertight, decorative lining manufacturer for swimming pools.

The reinforced membrane is made up of two flexible laminas of polyvinyl chloride (PVC-P), which brings total water-tightness and durability to the pool. These two PVC laminas are fused on a polyester mesh between them, giving them their great resistance and durability. All this without losing the necessary elasticity and flexibility for the membrane to adapt to any shape or corner of the swimming pool.
The benefits of using the membrane are: total water-tightness guarantee, easy installation, varied prints and finishes in line with market tendencies.
The principal characteristic of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN membranes is that they are coated on their upper face with an exclusive protective lacquer with the principal function of prolonging the life of the membrane, protecting it from bacteria and fungus, UV rays, dirt and stains, rubs and scratches.

Practical RENOLIT ALKORPLAN advice for pool water treatment

Practical RENOLIT ALKORPLAN advice for pool water treatment

You have chosen a product from the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN range and your pool is beautiful, but now, having filled it up, it is time to deal with water treatment. When the water is perfectly treated, not only does it look good, but it is also healthy and safe. So, what do you have to do?

First, obviously, the installation and correct sizing of all the parts is very important. In an efficient installation, all the pool water circulates in very little time, a maximum of 5 hours. If this is not the case, we suggest making the relevant changes. But meeting this requirement does not guarantee that the water is perfect, both aesthetically and bacteriologically, it is also necessary to periodically check the pH value and use water from the aqueduct to fill it up.

It is essential to carry out constant and necessary treatment to avoid the formation of bacteria, microorganisms and algae that could lead to having to treat the water with massive amounts of expensive chemical products. The ideal pH value is more or less 7. If it is lower, it means the water is too acidic and can corrode the metal parts and look for basic elements to regulate itself. If the value is higher, the water is called basic and offers ideal conditions for developing algae, microorganisms and chalky formations. It will also look murky and not transparent. If the pH value is too high we have basic water and to recover it we use pH Minus, an acidic product; however, to make the water less acidic, a basic product is used called pH Plus. For normal water treatment Trichloroisocyanuric acid is used, generally in tablets, free chlorine must have a value between 0.6 and 1.5 ppm. The acid tablets are placed in the Skimmer or in friction dissolving devices. With an electrolysis system, we recommend an automatic method with probes, less maintenance needs and more time for you.

One of the natural properties of chlorine is to dissolve: it tends to oxidize converting the organic substances in the water into chlorides which the ultraviolet rays of the sun destroy. To limit the reaction caused by the UV, cyanuric acid is added that, as well as protecting the chlorine from the ultraviolet rays, it captures the excess chlorine to later release it little by little when necessary.

Types of Pool Decks

Types of Pool Decks

Types of Pool Decks

One of the key factors when building a swimming pool is correctly choosing the inner lining for the basin and the surface for the pool deck.

Special attention has to be paid to this latter area as it is frequently used as a space for sunbathing or relaxing and is a transit zone for bathers coming to and from the pool, so it is important that the material you choose be comfortable for walking on barefoot.

It must also be a material that is able to respond efficiently to our needs and expectations. It has to be functional, hygienic, easy to clean and —most importantly— anti-slip.

There are all recommendable but we should choose materials that adapt to the style we want to give our pool area, its shape and even to how it is going to be used.

There are a variety of types in diverse materials with different characteristics and aesthetics although those used most frequently are tiles, natural or artificial stone, wood or lawn.

Tiles:

They are highly recommendable as they are low-maintenance, easy to clean and resistant to all kinds of temperature. They bring elegance, resistance, durability and comfort to the poolside area. There are a variety of types including flat or smooth, uneven or enamel tiles, which are the best known kind. They also allow you imitate materials such as wood, stone and so on. Tiles lend a natural, safe and comfortable look to the poolside area.

Timber:

It affords perfect aesthetic integration of the pool into the garden and has become one of the most frequent materials for the pool deck. It is essential that the wood be anti-slip and resistant to water, damp and sunlight. There are different types: tropical timber, natural wood and eco-friendly or synthetic wood and it usually comes in decking or panels.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH is the first reinforced membrane 3d to line swimming pools Inspired by nature

Stone:

It is one of the most advisable materials for finishing your pool as it is easy to clean and adds a touch of nature to your pool. It may be natural or artificial and you can choose from a wide range of varieties, colours and textures. Although it requires minimal cleaning and maintenance, you must remember that it overheats in the sunlight.

Concrete:

Concrete is another option used very frequently for exteriors due to its versatility. It can imitate any kind of stone, paving or cobble in different shapes and colours. It allows for numerous decorative options and requires minimal maintenance.

In the end, whichever you choose, remember that what is most important for a good pool deck is for it to be hardwearing, comfortable for bathers, easy to maintain and clean, and —most importantly— anti-slip to prevent accidents.

What shape shall I choose for my pool?

What shape shall I choose for my pool?

What shape shall I choose for my pool?

The most usual shapes when building swimming pools

One of the main concerns when deciding to build a swimming pool is determining what shape it will be and then choosing its colour.

Wherever the pool is going to be situated, the first step when it comes to building a pool is deciding on its shape – as there are endless possibilities.

Before establishing the shape of the pool, we must carefully analyse the characteristics of the garden and surface area to make the most of our water area.

This step has to be studied with care as it is not only about each of our personal and aesthetic tastes but we also have to take into account where the pool will go, and the shape and size of the space. We also have to consider the use to be given to the pool when making our decision – so it is time for some reflection before deciding on one shape or another.

If we take pools built using the traditional concrete system as our basis, we have an advantage when it comes to choosing the shape as concrete pools can be designed in any irregular shape.

With regard to the type of site where the pool will go, this factor carries weight in terms of cost and greater or lesser difficulty when making the pool, as we will have to adapt to irregularities in the shape of the site.

Lastly, we have to stop and think about how we intend to use the pool, as it will be a decisive factor when it comes to choosing a certain shape. For example, if we want to do sport and swim lengths, a long, narrow pool will be perfect, but if we want to have a kid’s area in the pool, the wider that part is, the better and it should also be shallow.

One division of frequent pool shapes is traditional square, rectangular or round ones and the irregular ones that are no standard shape and whose design is limited only by your imagination and the dimensions of the site.

Rectangular pools

Among traditional shapes, rectangular pools are among the most preferred as they are easy to integrate into almost all gardens. A rectangular shape always gives an image of sobriety and elegance, whatever the general style of the pool.

There are several other shapes derived from this category – pools that are based on the rectangle but presented as an “L”, “T” or “U”.

Square pools

They are not very frequent either because they are usually impractical. This type of design is usually used when one of the sides is next to the wall of the house, for example.oor space. Sandy swimming pools are an example.

Kidney-shaped pools

The traditional kidney shape is, no doubt, the star of many private gardens thanks to its functionality and appearance. The main features of this line are that it is an attractive design and it adapts easily to winding sites.

Triangular pools

These are bordered by three straight sides. They are not very usual when being built privately and are normally in response to very specific needs of the site.

Irregular-shaped pools

Ones with no symmetry and complete freedom of form. Pools with an irregular design easily adapt to the site whatever its shape and dimensions, thus allowing us to get much more out of our outdoor space. Sandy swimming pools are an example.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH, inspired by nature

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH, inspired by nature

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH, 3D pool liners inspired by nature

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH is the new 2mm reinforced membrane by ALKORPLAN. Thanks to its technical qualities and attractive designs, it has become the strongest, most durable and resistant lining on the market.

TOUCH complements the range of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN liners, which have become the most widely used lining for pools in the world.

The big difference between the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH reinforced liner and the other reinforced liners on the market is its thickness. The normal thickness of reinforced lining is 1.5 mm whereas RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH is the first 2mm reinforced liner, which gives it greater resistance and durability.

The RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH liner revolutionises the market for pool lining, made up of two flexible sheets of PVC fused and totally waterproof, it doubly guarantees no water loss. But, in addition, these two sheets are reinforced on the inside with a mesh of highly resistant polyester, which acts like a spine and makes the reinforced liner a robust product with great mechanical resistance.

The special thickness of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH allows its designs to have relief and provides an exceptional and pleasant touch. The six models add personality to any pool and allow you to create unique, personal spaces in your garden.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH designs are inspired by nature and each of them is designed to line pools forming part of different atmospheres:

Authentic
ideal for lining pools in natural, rustic surroundings with pebbles or lots of greenery. Country pools with the texture of clay or sandstone.

Vanity
for spectacular, ostentatious pools whose uniqueness stimulates the vanity of their owners in the face of their neighbours.

Relax
with a colour similar to fine, beach sand, it is ideal for exotic atmospheres that transport you to faraway, Caribbean beaches with crystal-clear, turquoise hues.

Sublime
emulates fine travertine marble and is the perfect lining for trendy, modern pools.

Elegance
with elegant, dark veins like those in slate, it is the lining for cosmopolitan pools, turning the water a deep blue colour that is captivating from the very start

Prestige
pools that evoke a paradise of volcanic rock, especially designed for minimalist, designer environments.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH installation

To install RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH reinforced membrane, you must first condition the pool following these steps:

  • Adapt the basin to check the condition of the pool equipment, repair cracks and clean impurities from the walls and bottom.
  • Disinfect the basin to make sure there are no remains of organic matter.
  • Attach the fixtures to the basin.
  • Place the geotextile on the wall and floor. Thanks to its fungicide treatment, it prevents the proliferation of fungi between the reinforced lining and the basin, in addition to helping conceal any possible irregularities in the basin.
  • Place and weld the reinforced liner using heat sealing, which must always be done by a professional authorised by RENOLIT ALKORPLAN.

As RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH is a 2mm liner, we recommend edge-to-edge welding to avoid the bump that would be caused by traditional overlapping, as the thickness is much more evident than with normal lining.

The aim of edge-to-edge welding is to achieve a better aesthetic finish as, if it is done correctly, the welding will be invisible and you may not even always need to use liquid PVC to seal it. That is why it is recommendable —although not compulsory— especially on the bottom as that is where welding is more visible.

To make the bottom completely flat when welding edge to edge, you should use the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN fungicide geotextile and the edge-to-edge welding strip.

–          RENOLIT ALKORPLAN fungicide geotextile

It is used as protective layer between the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN lining and the pool surface to prevent the proliferation of bacteria, fungus and microorganisms and conceal any irregular surfaces that the pool may have before the lining is applied. It also provides a much more pleasant sensation for the bather when walking over the lining. We recommend applying it under all types of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN reinforced lining.

–          Edge-to-edge welding strip

A base strip that is used under edge-to-edge welding. It should be used with geotextile on pool bottoms to compensate for the bump from the strip next to joints and to provide the bather with a more pleasant sensation when stepping on the bottom.

Once you have welded all of the pool liners, we recommend using RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH joint sealer – a specific liquid PVC for finishing welding, whether overlapping or edge-to-edge. Its colour, texture and composition mean it combines perfectly with RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH liners and its improved formula makes it very resistant to the passage of time and decoration.

See how pools lined with RENOLIT ALKORPLAN TOUCH reinforced liners look and line your pool with the best lining on the market.

Infrastructure of a swimming pool

Infrastructure of a swimming pool

What is the infrastructure of a pool?

Not every day you decide to put a swimming pool in your garden. It seems easy. Dig a hole to size, shape the walls, line and fill with water. But there are different accessories and equipment we will have to choose for our future dream pool.

Some are vital for a swimming pool, the water pump and the filter, for example, which will help keep the water in good condition, but there are also different variables we can choose from for our pool’s infrastructure. What color of reinforced membrane do I choose to line the walls? Do I want a temperature regulator for the water? Is it worth my while installing the latest technology and being able to manage the water pH and temperature via Smartphone?

Depending on our investment, current technology gives us a choice between a variety of equipment that will make our swims much more pleasant.

One of the most important pieces of equipment is the water filter, which will filter the particles and dirt that may have accumulated on the water’s surface. However, just because the water looks clean doesn’t mean it is suitable for swimming.

We also have to get the water’s pH right. There are devices that automatically control the water’s pH. This is a basic factor in keeping the pool water in a good condition, avoiding discomfort for those using the pool, corrosion and algae in the water.

As optional piece of equipment we can install an electric heater or a heat pump to keep the temperature at a pleasant temperature for bathing.

Our Smartphone offers us a wealth of possibilities: to be connected to the world, with access to endless information and be able to regulate the water’s pH and temperature. There are several companies that provide these water maintenance services.

Last but not least, we have to choose the color of our pool. RENOLIT ALKORPLAN‘s reinforced membranes offer a wide range of colors. Crystal-clear, bright, fresh water, warm colors like on far-away exotic and tropical beaches, intense blues of the Mediterranean sea in swimming pools full of color… in short, thanks to the wide variety of colors RENOLIT ALKORPLAN has, you can create a unique feature in your garden.
